How it plays out on a deal
Most deal documents start life in a company's own storage. A connector saves downloading and uploading them again and can keep updated files in step. It also creates a pipe between two systems, which needs controls.
One-way import is usually safer for a deal than live two-way sync, because the room should hold a fixed record of what was disclosed. Check which direction the connection runs and whether synced changes show in the version history.
What to check in a review or demo
- 1Which storage services are supported and whether the sync is one-way or two-way.
- 2Whether synced updates create new versions with dates in the room.
- 3Whether the connection uses the company's single sign-on and can be revoked centrally.
Read alongside
- API accessA documented programming interface that lets other systems create rooms, move files, manage users or pull reports from the data room automatically.
- Bulk uploadUploading many files and folders at once, typically by dragging a whole directory into the browser, with the folder structure kept intact.
- Version controlRetaining each superseded copy of a file, stamped with who replaced it and when, so it is possible to show later exactly which draft sat in the room on a given day.
