About Data Room Review

We review virtual data room software against the questions a deal team asks before it signs: what the room can do, what it costs and what backs its security claims. This page explains who we are and what we stand behind.

What this site is for

Choosing a data room usually happens under time pressure. A sale process has a launch date, an investor wants documents by Friday, an auditor is waiting. Vendor websites all promise bank-grade security and effortless setup, and most do not publish a price. Data Room Review exists to give buyers a clear, comparable view before they commit.

Every provider we cover gets a long-form review with a score out of 10, a verdict, pros and cons, pricing as published, security credentials, a feature table and a plain statement of who the platform suits and who should look elsewhere. Alongside the reviews we publish rankings by deal type, head-to-head comparisons, a pricing guide and a short quiz that matches a deal to three providers.

Who writes the reviews

Reviews, rankings and guides are written and maintained by the Data Room Review editorial team. Pages carry a team byline, not personal names, and every one displays the date of its latest revision, and the method behind every score is public on our review method page.

What we promise readers

  • Scores come from the method. Six weighted criteria, each scored out of 10, applied the same way to every provider.
  • Facts are checked against the source. Prices, certifications and feature lists come from vendor documentation and are rechecked on a regular cycle.
  • Weaknesses are stated plainly. Every review lists real gaps, including for providers we have a commercial relationship with.
  • Prices are labelled as indicative. We show what providers publish in US dollars and say so when a price is only available on request.

How the site is funded

A number of our outbound buttons are affiliate links: when a reader becomes a customer after clicking one, the vendor may pay us. This pays for the time it takes to research platforms and keep pages current. Commercial relationships do not change scores, rankings or verdicts; the full arrangement is set out in our affiliate disclosure and our editorial policy.

What we do not do

We do not accept payment for reviews, for higher scores or for placement in rankings. We do not publish user ratings or aggregate star counts from other platforms. We do not give legal, tax or investment advice; where a topic touches law or regulation, we point to the official source.

Get in touch

Readers, deal professionals and vendors can reach us through the contact page. Vendors who believe a fact on the site is out of date are welcome to send evidence, and we will check it and update the page if it is wrong.
