Privacy policy

We collect as little as we can to understand how the site is used and to answer messages. Here is what that means in practice and how to opt out.

Who we are

This policy covers dataroomreview.org, operated by the Data Room Review editorial team. You can reach us about anything in this policy through the contact page.

What we collect

Usage data. When you visit, our analytics tools record pages viewed, how you arrived (for example, from a search engine), approximate location derived from your IP address, device and browser type, and how you interact with pages, such as scrolling, clicks and quiz answers.

Messages you send. If you use the contact form, we receive your name, email address, the topic you chose and your message.

We do not ask for or knowingly collect sensitive personal data, and the site has no user accounts.

Cookies and analytics

We use two analytics services:

  • Google Analytics 4, with Consent Mode v2. Analytics storage is on by default and advertising storage is always off. If you decline, Google Analytics stops using analytics cookies for your visits.
  • PostHog, a product analytics service, hosted in the United States. It records page views and interactions and, for some visits, a session replay that shows how the page was used. Session replay masks everything typed into form fields, so the content of your inputs is not recorded.

When you first visit, a cookie bar lets you accept or decline analytics. Your choice is stored in your browser’s local storage under the key drv_consent. If you decline, Google Analytics is set to deny analytics storage and PostHog does not load, or stops capturing and recording if it was already running. You can change your mind by clearing the site’s stored data in your browser, which brings the cookie bar back.

We also store two small preferences in your browser: whether you have already seen the quiz popup in this session, and your cookie choice. Neither is shared with anyone.

The contact form

Messages sent through the contact form are delivered by email using Resend, an email delivery service. We use your details only to reply to you and keep messages for as long as needed to deal with your enquiry.

Reviews link to provider websites. Some of those links are affiliate links (see our affiliate disclosure), and outbound links may carry a tag telling the provider the visit came from us. Once you leave this site, the other website’s privacy policy applies.

Sharing and selling

We do not sell personal data and do not share it for advertising. Data is processed by the service providers named above, and by our hosting provider, to run the site.

How long we keep data

Analytics data is kept for the retention periods set in each analytics tool, typically no longer than 14 months for Google Analytics. Contact messages are kept while needed to handle the enquiry and for a reasonable period afterwards.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask what personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, or to object to its processing. Contact us through the contact page and we will respond within a reasonable time.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we collect or use data, we will update this page and its date.
