How it plays out on a deal
Sellers rarely want a document visible the moment it lands. A file may need a legal check, redaction or the right permissions first. Draft mode gives the deal team a working area inside the room so they do not need a second room for preparation.
Without it, teams rely on uploading into a folder nobody can see and then moving files, which is slow and easy to get wrong. A clear visual difference between draft and published files, and a single publish action that also sends notifications, removes most of that risk.
What to check in a review or demo
- 1Whether unpublished files are clearly marked for administrators and hidden from everyone else.
- 2Whether publishing a batch can trigger one combined notification instead of one per file.
- 3Whether permissions can be set while a file is still in draft.
Read alongside
- Bulk uploadUploading many files and folders at once, typically by dragging a whole directory into the browser, with the folder structure kept intact.
- Staged disclosureReleasing information in planned steps, for example a summary set in round one and full contracts in round two, by opening folders to each group at the right moment.
- Change alertsEmail or in-app notices that tell users when documents are added or updated in folders they can see, or when a question they follow is answered.
- Room administratorThe person, usually on the sell side or at the adviser, who builds the room, invites users, sets permissions and publishes documents.
